Some new ideas for trips we could arrange have been suggested to provide new paddling opportunities, different venues, events and some ideas that some of us may want to have a go at. For now here are some suggestions as ideas and if anyone shows any interest then we are happy to try and organise.
Talk to any of the club's coaches if you want to add to the discussion.
North Wales - would have to be a weekend - Tryweryn, Dee, Lake Bala - various grades from 2-3 dependant on weather. Spring/Autumn.
Mid-wales Llandysul - River Teiffi, based at Llandysul paddlers bunkhouse catering for up to 30 if we booked all bunkhouse. Grade 2-3 weather dependant, can get big in very wet weather, but they have a small lake for beginners and if river level normal it is a good white water venue, 6 mile river trip (grade 2) or play on slalom course outside bunkhouse grade(2-3). Spring/Autumn.
Llandysul River Festival - usually third week in August. Thursday to Sunday, many river activities from gorge swimming, mountain biking, paddling, slalom, climbing wall, coasteering, surfing. Competition slalom day Sunday. Cost about £70 per person to include food, activities, camping. Google Llandysul paddlers for info. This event is cool awesome fun for adults and kids and inbetweenies.
South Wales - River Usk various sections grade 2 or 3. October to march. Maybe a weekend would be best.
River Wye - various sections some can be done in a day trip or go for the weekend and do 2 trips. Have never done source to sea or as near as we can get, on this one but would be up for it if anyone interested. All except upper section is open all year round. All river except upper section grade 1-2.
Wimbleball Lake (exemoor) - a good days paddle and if windy a good time to practise sailing rigs in open boats. All year round.
