The junior section of the club consists of 2 groups:

Saturday Morning Juniors

For the new junior paddler, these sessions progress through British Canoeing’s Paddle Award Scheme which is designed to teach the Start, Discover and Explore awards in a child friendly manor.  Axe Vale Canoe Clubs unique location in the Axe Estuary allow for a safe and fun environment to learn the basics of kayaking and canoeing. The Saturday Session is run throughout the summer until October.

Wednesday Club Night Juniors

These sessions are for the juniors that have completed their BC Explore awards and have joined as full club members. These sessions consist of a mixture of short trips, games and fun in the surf whilst building their skills and experience.

Junior Members that need to gain more experience to attend on Wednesday evenings, will be advised on which sessions they are able to attend. They will generally be high tide sessions as a paddle up rivers to promote development will be much more appropriate. Low tide sessions are used to promote development of surfing skills for those with experience.

Summer Season

The summer trip list will be published in April. There will be a mixture of trips available including some suitable summer trips  for juniors including estuary and sea trips around the SW coast.  These trips are usually are on a Sunday and most trips will begin by meeting at the club in the morning and returning to the club late-afternoon. Trips will need to be booked onto in advanced to ensure there is enough coaches and helpers available.  Please note help may be required with transport on some trips.  These trips will have a small cost to cover fuel, parking and boat hire (if required). Please ensure that you arrive on time so we can load up quickly and make the most of each day.

At the end of the summer season we have a presentation day to celebrate some of the achievements made by our youth paddlers.

Winter Season

The winter trip list will be published at the end of September. At the beginning of the season we hold two introduction to moving water days which start you on your journey to winter moving water paddling.
Trips are on Sundays and generally a day long paddle.
Most trips will begin by meeting at the club in the morning and returning to the club mid-afternoon.
